Dr. Kathleen Poleon graduated in 2003 from SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine after receiving degrees from SUNY Geneseo, Rochester Institute of Technology, and the University of Rochester. Her background in Psychology and Human Resource Development uniquely helps with the human side of dentistry and the degree in Biology helps with the clinical/medical side. After dental school, Dr. Poleon completed a General Practice Residency at the Millard Fillmore Gates and Buffalo General hospitals in Buffalo, NY. She then spent a year working as an attending dentist teaching newly graduated dentists during their residencies.
Dr. Poleon likes to keep up to date on the latest developments in dentistry by attending numerous continuing education courses on a variety of topics in dentistry. Dr. Poleon admits to being a lifelong dental-phobe who takes pride in making your visit as painless and anxiety-free as possible. We utilize nitrous oxide (laughing gas) as a tool to help you relax through the appointment. We also have in-operatory video and headphones to help ease you through your appointment.
Dr. Poleon has been working with Mary since she came to Newark over 7 years ago. Mary is an enormous comfort to patients and Dr. Poleon and her patients hope she never retires!
In her spare time, Dr. Poleon keeps busy with her husband, Dr. Miller, their 3 kids, and their club and school swim teams. She also enjoys hiking, gardening, cooking, and spending time in Muskoka, Canada during the summers.
